Important Things

Sit back; think what’s important to you,
A house, a car, or a boat.
Often we think of only the big,
Not the small things we need the most.
A smile to a friend each time you meet,
Will get one returned to you.
Wave hello to someone you know,
Makes your heart feel light and free.
Walk up; touch that person who’s there,
Shows them how much you care.
Pick up the phone, call mom and dad,
See how saying "I love you" feels.
Drop a note in the lunchbox of your love,
See what happens at days end.
When a guest drops in just to chat,
Serve coffee with love and care.
Then sit back and rethink what’s important,
It won’t be a house, a car, or a boat.

Friendship

Had I not talked to you,
Failed to honor your request.
My words would not have reached your ears,
Turned your head, pierced your heart.
Had I not felt your need,
Continued on, no looking back.
I would not know your soul,
Entered your life, touched your heart.
Had I not turned to you,
Wanting to be part of your life.
We could not share our words,
Become friends, shared our heart.
Had I not stood by you,
Walked away when I was told.
Paths lost are not regained,
Life upset, saddened heart.
Had I not experienced you,
Knowing why doesn't matter.
These would be the saddest lines I write,
Pieces scattered, broken heart.

Trash Anger

What do YOU do when anger attacks?
Feed it with revenge to keep it alive till later needed.
Keep it deep inside to burn the soul and harden the heart.
Wear it on the face to be seen and shared by all around.
Use it to hurt the very ones they love more than life.
Why do we let our anger control us like that?
When it could be confined in a trash bin never to be let out,
And thrown out frequently like the worthless trash it is.
Then replaced by love for all things no matter how small.
