A Child's Prayer
Dear God, I pray to thee tonight,
Bless my family, my dog, my kite.
Thank you for my mama's hugs.
I sure do like to play with bugs!
Thank you, God, for my warm bed,
For pillows soft beneath my head.
Thank you for my daddy's love,
And all those pretty stars above!
I wonder, God, what crayons you use
To color our world, how did you choose?
Why is the ocean blue and green?
When will I ever become a teen?
I want to drive a car so bad!
Be cool and important, like Mom and Dad!
Please help me, God, to be real smart,
To say the words from my heart.
Tell me what to do and say.
Help me be a good boy today.
I must be nice to my brother.
Will he grow up to look like mother?
Bless my friends, my enemies too.
I want to do it all for you.
Thank you God, for the food I eat.
Why did you put toes on my feet?
All I want is happiness, you know.
Run and jump; make angels in the snow.
You made the world oh so right.
Is the sun just one big flashlight?
That's all I have to say tonight.
Keep me safe till morning light.
Help Mom and Dad do what they can.
God, I love them; I'm their biggest fan.
